Where to register for an HSK test?

No matter where you are in the world, you will have to register on the official website for HSK tests: www.chinesetest.cn.

How can I find a test centre near or in my town?

You can find all the information on the website: www.chinesetest.cn.

Should I take a paper-based or internet-based test?

Depending on what the specific test centre offers, the test itself can be either paper-based or internet-based. A main difference exists for the writing part with Chinese characters (from HSK 3 on). That being said, taking an internet-based test is usually a little easier since one only needs to type the Pinyin and then pick the right character or phrase, in contrast to the paper-based that one has to remember all strokes and write them down.
